Vintage 2020 will certainly be a year to remember. On top of the general madness of harvest, there was a whole new obstacle for vineyards to overcome: a global pandemic born lockdown. Tensions were high and nerves were fraught, however, mother nature was exceptionally benevolent. Already speculated as the vintage of the century, the wines from 2020 will be intense, powerful, and age-worthy. Both our Winemaker Michael Wood, and our Viticulturist Tim Adams, confidently call it the best fruit they have seen from our Estate. Record-breaking drought periods from January through to April, coupled with warm settled conditions over harvest, meant each varietal could be picked based on optimal ripeness. With both 2019 and 2020 being stellar vintages here at Obsidian, we are confident in saying that, pandemic or not, we are going to continue making world-class, award-winning wines.
