Weeping Sands Merlot 2009

“Still very youthful, the 2009 vintage from Obsidian is an estate grown red, matured in French oak casks (15 per cent new). Mouthfilling and full coloured, with fresh, deep plum and spice flavours, a hint of coffee and oak complexity, it’s a concentrated, ripe savory red, with good cellar potential.”

“Dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a fresh, fragrant nose of dark redcurrant and blackberry fruits, plum and cassis with a whisper of reduction. Medium-full bodied, this is elegant in expression with aromatic redcurrant and plum flavours, with some herbs elements and fine-textured tannins grip running through the palate line. The wine has crisp clean acidity and a dry finish. Merlot... an elegant cooler Merlot to match herb encrusted lam rack over the 4-6+ years.”
